Alphabets

There are various ways to write Aramaic, just as other languages often have more than one script. The Aramaic language of the ancient Assyrians derives from the Phoneanians, whose alphabet was as follows:

Ancient Aramaic was written like this:

Compare that with the script of other ancient languages:

Biblical scholars today generally use the Hebrew alphabet and characters as the same alphabet to write in Aramaic.

You can also get some good information including the Ketav Ashurit scripts below, from Hebrew Christians, with audio files <HERE>.

    Rosangela:

Sorry for the delay. I was moving from one location to another, some 2,500 miles away, in Brazil. But to your question, “Marcos” or “Markus” is a Roman name and is found in the Bible written only in Greek. Still interested?

Due to the number of requests, we have limit to ourselves to translating just biblical names and phrases, and these only in the original language in which they appear in the Bible. Therefore, if you have a request, please send the phrase or name and the Biblical reference where it appears. Thanks and greetings to all...
